Ellie Roohani

Ellie Roohani grew up in Las Vegas since she was one year old. She came to the United States as the child of religious refugees. Because of her family's experience with religious persecution at the hands of the Iranian government, Ellie is particularly committed to fostering religious understanding, tolerance, and liberty.

Ellie was educated in the Clark County public school system, and is a proud graduate of Clark High School, UNLV, and UNLV law school. Ellie’s professional experience includes human trafficking survivor’s rights advocate, district court judge (appointed by Governor Steve Sisolak), Assistant United States Attorney, law clerk to Judges Johnnie Rawlinson (9th Circuit) and Roger Hunt (District of Nevada), and professor of law.

Ellie is actively involved in the community. She is a part of Leadership Las Vegas through the Las Vegas Chamber of Commerce and volunteers through many local organizations that give back to our community, including TULIPS, Leaders in Training, The Chef Jeff Project, Legal Aid of Southern Nevada, Baby’s Bounty, St. Jude’s Ranch for Children, Kiwanis Club of Southwest Las Vegas, and the Interfaith Council of Southern Nevada.
